What to know in Lincoln County

WDFW notes that most of District 2, which includes Lincoln County, is privately owned, so a private campsite with the owner’s blessing can be the best option near farm country.

Be specific: tent or RV, how many nights, how many people and vehicles, and how you’ll handle water, toilets and trash. For anything recurring or commercial, check with Lincoln County Planning Division first, because county codes regulate RV occupancy and campgrounds.

Summer burn bans are common in Eastern Washington, so plan on no campfires unless the owner and current restrictions allow them. For owners: RCW 4.24.210 lists camping among the activities where letting people use your land without a fee limits your liability.

Questions

Can I camp on private land in Lincoln County with permission?
Yes, with the owner’s permission and within county rules. Long-term RV occupancy and campgrounds are regulated, so ask Lincoln County Planning Division about anything recurring.
Are campfires allowed?
Only if the owner agrees and no burn ban or fire restriction is in effect. Check current DNR and county restrictions before your trip.
Does the owner take on liability?
RCW 4.24.210 limits a landowner’s liability for unintentional injuries to people allowed to camp without being charged a fee. Charging a fee changes that.
